Anxiety
Whether it be interviewing for a job, studying for a test, or even meeting for coffee with new friends, we’ve likely all experienced anxiety at some point. However, when anxiety persists day after day, it can become debilitating, as it interrupts our lives and makes it difficult to live comfortably and peacefully.
Anxiety disorders — such as generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder — are typically defined by excessive and repeated worry, fear, unease, and feelings of dread. Sometimes, anxiety can also manifest physically, causing fatigue, difficulty sleeping, headaches, or stomachaches, for example. These symptoms often interfere with an individual’s ability to function in day-to-day life.
In therapy, clients and I work together to identify and manage the thoughts, behaviors, and situations that contribute to their anxiety. We then learn how to change those thought patterns and develop skills to help reduce the intensity and frequency of anxiety symptoms. At New Morning Mercies Counseling, you don’t have to face the challenges of anxiety alone. Together, we can establish a safe and supportive environment in which we can work towards achieving your therapeutic goals.
