About Me

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a therapist. I have wanted to help people realize their potential while in the comfort of a safe, non-judgmental space. So when the University of South Dakota established a Master of Social Work program in 2010, I followed my passion and became a student in the second cohort.

My interest in therapy started years before my enrollment at USD. As an undergraduate student at South Dakota State University, I took a sociology course — and loved it. I enjoyed studying human behavior, what prompted people’s thoughts and actions, and how groups functioned.

Once I graduated from SDSU with a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies, my calling toward therapy only continued to strengthen. So in 2014, I earned a master’s degree in social work and received my Private Independent Practice license in 2018 to begin my career as a therapist. Along the way, I gained experience in the social work field in a variety of settings, from child and adolescent forensic interviewing to medical social work advocacy and patient care.

Today, my experience in multiple disciplines has helped me found and manage New Morning Mercies Counseling: a space of comfort and healing that strives to help individuals become the best versions of themselves. Whether working with clients in areas such as anxiety, trauma, depression, or life transitions, I offer support to all who step through my doors, collaborating with clients to achieve their therapeutic goals.

Outside of the office, I enjoy going for a run in the outdoors, settling in with a good book, and spending time with my family and labradoodle, Buna.
